School psychologist Mrs. Molle (Zoe Saldana) tries to help out a headstrong student (Madison Wolfe) in an exclusive clip from the fantasy adventure ‘I Kill Giants.’ RLJE Films
Playing oh-so-cool cosmic assassin Gamora, Zoe Saldana is a veteran of taking on alien creatures as a Guardian of the Galaxy. What she fights in the fantasy film I Kill Giants is a bit more down to Earth.
Based on the comic-book series, the fantasy adventure (in theaters March 23) centers on a 12-year-old girl named Barbara Thorson (Madison Wolfe) who escapes from her real life and chaotic household into a Dungeons & Dragons-like world where she’s the only one who can stop coming giants from rampaging all over her town. The line between that fantasy and reality begins to blur, and her school psychologist Mrs. Molle (Saldana) takes an interest in helping Barbara, an outcast among her peers.
However, the kid’s more than a little headstrong, as seen in this exclusive clip from I Kill Giants. After an incident in the cafeteria with some classmates, Mrs. Molle brings Barbara into her office and tries to connect with her (“I already heard to stay away from the beef teriyaki”) but the girl’s not having it. “For the record, I’m not being difficult because I think your profession is B.S.,” Barbara says, bringing the sick burns. “I’m just busy so I don’t have time to be difficult with your feelings.” Ouch!
While Saldana is looking much more normal here — i.e. she doesn’t have green skin and wielding a blaster — than in the Guardians of the Galaxy movies, fans only have to wait a couple months before she’s back in action as an intergalactic superhero in Avengers: Infinity War (out April 27).
